Summer Camp Traditions at Marymount

The moments we repeat year after year—because they build community, character, and lifelong connection.

Daily rhythm + traditions

A day at camp—built on simple, meaningful routines

  • Opening/closing day rituals: a consistent welcome moment for new campers; a meaningful send-off at the end of the session (often where campers reflect, share appreciations, or do a final camp-wide gathering).

  • Campfire nights: songs, skits, stories, and recognitions; often the most “core memory” traditions at overnight camps.

  • Cabin/devotion time: a quiet daily moment for reflection/prayer that fits your faith-based identity.

  • All-camp theme days: Superhero Sunday, Fourth of July celebration, Christmas in June, and more.

Campfire & Community Nights

Where stories become shared memories

Campfire nights are a cornerstone of the overnight camp experience—songs, stories, and moments of recognition that bring the whole camp together.

  • Songs and traditions passed down: Campers learn the same favorites that alumni still remember.

Skits and laughter: Classic camp humor and creativity—often led by counselors who once sat in the same seats as campers.

  • Recognition moments: Celebrating growth, kindness, leadership, and the ways campers show up for each other, as well as personal accomplishments and achievements.

Signature experiences tied to the property

With 350 acres of wooded hills, trails, and gathering spaces, many Marymount traditions are connected to specific places on property.

  • Chapel moments (indoor/outdoor): special services, blessings, or reflective gatherings in the chapels—these are powerful for alumni because they’re place-based.

  • Trail or landmark traditions: a “must-do” hike, a scenic overlook, a specific spot everyone visits (lake, pavilion, barn area), or a tradition like signing something (guestbook, year board) tied to a location.

  • Lake day / waterfront milestones: first swim, boating, a classic waterfront challenge—simple but very tradition-friendly.

Alumni Traditions

The tradition continues—long after the session ends.

For many families, Camp Marymount is multi-generational. Alumni help keep traditions alive by returning, volunteering, sharing stories, and supporting campers through scholarships and special projects.
